George Roger Waters is an English musician and singer who co-founded the progressive rock band Pink Floyd in 1965. His work spans a variety of genres and has influenced countless musicians. He is widely considered one of the greatest rock musicians of all time. Waters has won numerous awards and has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide.
After his solo career ended in 1992, Waters did not write any new rock music for several years. He instead staged live shows for his classic albums, including Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. He also composed classical pieces and worked as an activist. In 2017, Waters released his latest solo album, Is This the Life We Really Want?
Despite the fact that Waters sued to retire the name of Pink Floyd, the band still released two studio albums without him. One of them, The Final Cut, was billed as a “requiem for the post-war dream” by Waters. The album was also accompanied by a film by Alan Parker, which implied that ill will had spread within the group. Waters left the band in 1985, and a legal battle arose between Waters and the band over the use of the band’s name. The band settled out of court in 1987.
